Project Overview

The Innovation Partnership Institutes grant for Energy Efficient & Renewable Energy(EE/RE) was awarded to Essex County College and partners by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education (NJ CHE)in summer 2008, running through October, 2009. The goal of the program is to develop curricula around the EE/ER theme that can be rolled out to all of New Jersey's community colleges and that will fit within the continuum of high school, community college, and four year college training.

The particular focus of this grant is on "Construction Design Build" and "Building Facilities Management." New Jersey has a very large number of sizable commercial and residential buildings to manage. These buildings utilize much energy; saving some of that energy can be valuable to employers and to our entire society. This education and training should prepare students for jobs in the "real world" green economy.
